Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come - 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NASB)
STEP 3 - BIBLE SURVEY
At this point in your training, you have learned the value of your faith, the importance of the blood of Christ, and the promise of the Holy Spirit to help you in your walk. You have also received a general understanding of basic Bible doctrines. Congratulations on your accomplishments thus far! I trust it has helped you in your walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Now we are going to focus on a survey of the Bible. By now you should have completed, or are close to completing, the New Testament. Now it's time to delve into the Old Testament. A person once said the "New Testament is the Old Testament revealed, and the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed." There is a lot of truth in that statement. To summarize the Bible, we must understand that it is God's love letter to mankind. The purpose of the Bible is not a scientific textbook or a philosophy class, but it is God's Word given to man for his redemption. Redemption means to purchase. It shows us how man separated himself from God through sin and how God has a plan to redeem man from his sin and once again have peace with God for eternity. It starts with the fall of man and how he has tried to make it right on his own but failed miserably until God stepped in by sending His only son, Jesus Christ to make a way for man to have peace again. At the end God shows his justice for all the wrongs man had done and the reward of the faithful. It is a letter of love and grace, mercy and forgiveness, judgement and rewards. So as you continue in your bible, ask God to reveal these things to you and help you understand His plan for the ages and how you can live a life worthy of Him.
